Guided Meditation Timers

Choose a mood-based timer with breathing techniques tailored to how you feel right now.

Why This Timer Exists

Meditation apps have a problem. They started as simple tools, then locked basic features behind $70/year subscriptions. The timer you used for free last year? Now it's “Premium.” The bell sound you liked? “Upgrade to unlock.” Meditation shouldn't require a credit card.

Then there's the irony of needing a phone to escape it. Unlock the screen to meditate and get hit with notifications, badges, and social features. Every tap is a distraction. This timer runs in the browser or as a standalone app with nothing between the moment and silence.

And for those with ADHD, most timers work against the user. A rigid countdown creates pressure. Silence without anchors lets the mind wander with no way back. That's why this timer includes open-ended sessions (no time limit, no pressure) and interval bells (a gentle nudge every few minutes to return to the present). These aren't premium add-ons. They're free, because they should be.

Whether the session is 5 minutes or an hour, consistency matters more than duration. This tool stays out of the way so anyone can build a daily practice. Just open the page and press start.

A soft bell every few minutes brings your wandering mind back. Configurable from 2 to 10 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this meditation timer really free? No catch?

No catch. No subscriptions, no premium tiers, no ads, no donation prompts. The full timer with all bells, ambient sounds, breathing patterns, interval reminders, and open session mode is free. It will stay that way.

Do I need to create an account or download an app?

No. You can start meditating right now in your browser. No sign-up, no email, no app store. If you want, you can install it as a Progressive Web App (PWA) on your phone for offline access — but it's optional.

Why do the bells fade in instead of ringing suddenly?

Many meditators report being startled out of deep meditation by sudden, loud bells. Our bells fade in gradually over 1–2 seconds, easing you back to awareness instead of jolting you. This is especially important for the end-of-session bell.

What is Open Session mode?

Open Session removes the countdown timer entirely. Instead of counting down, the timer counts up. You meditate for as long as you want and press stop when you're done. This is popular with ADHD meditators and experienced practitioners who find countdowns distracting or anxiety-inducing.

What are Interval Bells and who are they for?

Interval Bells play a soft chime at regular intervals (every 2, 3, 5, or 10 minutes) during your session. They gently remind you to return to the present moment if your mind has wandered. This is especially helpful for people with ADHD or anyone new to meditation who struggles with focus.

Is my data private?

Completely. All your meditation data — session history, preferences, notes — stays on your device in your browser's local storage. Nothing is ever sent to any server. There are no analytics trackers or cookies. Clearing your browser data erases everything.

Will the timer keep running if I switch tabs or lock my phone?

Yes. The timer uses a Web Worker that runs accurately even when the browser tab is in the background. We also use the Wake Lock API to keep your screen on during meditation. The bell will always sound when your session ends.

How is this different from Calm or Headspace?

Calm and Headspace are guided meditation apps with courses, teachers, and content libraries — and they cost $70+/year. This is a focused tool: a timer, bells, breathing guides, and ambient sounds. No guided content, no social features, no gamification. If you already know how to meditate and just need a timer, this is all you need.
